came from the Gaspé region of Québec. In 1898, at
the age of 70, he built an inn and established a farm on Kirkman
Creek, a small tributary of the Yukon River upriver from Dawson
City. He was one of the first people who grew vegetables successfully
in the region and in 1905 was granted land for agricultural purposes.
He finally left his rural life in the Yukon for Victoria, B.C.,
where he died at the age of 107.
