L’argent est à la région de Mayo ce que l’or est pour le Klondike. Dans les années 1920, les mines d’argent constituaient l’industrie la plus importante de tout le territoire. L’homme à l’origine de cette industrie était un Franco-Manitobain du nom de Louis Bouvette. Il démarqua la première concession minière sur Keno Hill en 1918. Bouvette était indépendant de nature et aimait les animaux, la chasse et la prospection. Il disparut en 1947 sans laisser de traces dans les bois qu’il aimait tant.

Silver was to the Mayo region what gold was to the Klondike. In the 1920's silver mining was the most important industry in the entire territory. The man who started it all was a Franco-Manitoban named Louis Bouvette, who staked the Discovery claim on Keno Hill in 1918. Bouvette was a freespirited individual who loved animals, hunting and prospecting. He disappeared without a trace in 1947 into the wilds that he cherished.
